Rare Anatolian Pottery Jar, Yortan Culture, 2700-2500 BC

Large hand-made vessel of rounded body, inward looping neck and slightly everted rim.
 
Four knobs around the shoulder linked by incised lines.

Rare shape with neatly burnished surface.

Intact and of choice condition. Root marks and soil deposits.

H. 18.3 cm (7.2 in)

Ex Swiss private collection of Elsa Bloch-Diener, Berne, since the mid-1970s.
